DIY Blinds Central Coast – How to measure your blinds

Once you have your measurements together, fill out our DIY measurements form and we will be in touch to give you a choice of materials and fabrics.

Venetian Blinds

Venetian blinds offer that classic versatility for window coverings and come in a wide range of colours. The adjustable slats allow you to take control of the light that enters your room. These are an extremely affordable window covering solution especially when measuring your DIY blinds solution.

How to measure Venetian Blinds

Measure the exact outside width of the window frame across the top, middle and bottom. This will help to cater to any abnormalities in your window frame.

Measure the height of the window from the top of  the frame to the bottom across the left, middle and right and use the largest measurement of the 3.

Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds are a very common window blind, especially used to cover sliding doors and large windows. They can be rotated to allow some light or closed to allow no light. We have a wide range of materials, colours and fabrics.

How to measure Vertical Blinds

The first step is deciding whether you want your blinds to sit on the inside of the window frame as a recess fit, or on the outside of the frame as a face fit, as this will determine where you take your measurements from.

Face fit measures the outside of the frame.

Measure the exact width of the architrave and then add 60mm-100mm on both sides. The additional width you add is entirely optional.

Measure the drop from the top of the architrave to where you want the blind to finish. We recommend 10mm off the floor or 50-100mm below the frame.

Before settling on recess fit you will need a depth of 135mm for the blind to fit neatly inside the recess for 127mm slats and 97mm depth for 89mm slats.

Width – measure the exact width within the window frame at the top, middle and bottom. Record the smallest measurements to ensure the blind fits within the recess.

Drop – measure the drop from the top of the inside recess to the base of the inside sill at the left, middle and right hand side. Record the smallest measurement to ensure the blind fits within the recess.

Rollers Blinds

Roller Blinds are one of the most versatile and popular window coverings we sell. They are extremely cost-effective and look fantastic in any home or office space.

How to measure Roller Blinds

Roller blinds can be measured outside the frame, outside a frameless window and inside the frame.

Measure the exact outside width of your window frame across the top, and write it down. The measurement will be your bracket to bracket width.

Choose your chain side, think about the side that will be easiest to reach.
