Internal and external blinds are very beneficial in keeping the sunlight out and the coolness inside. They also help in regulating the amount of light entering the premises. Internal blinds are covered in this blog but let’s talk about what makes them tick first. Internal blinds are manufactured from a long strip of fabric that is sewn together into a tube with vertical slats or honeycomb patterns (called prisms) along its length. These vertical slats act as shutters, opening and closing to block light depending on their position along the tube. Due to their size, these blinds are opaque so they cannot be seen through them but you can tell when they have been opened by looking at their reverse side.

There are a few different types of blinds that can be used in the home.
Roller Blinds:
Roller blinds are the most common type of blinds. They work by circulating air and blocking light. They are available in a number of fabrics including velvet, cotton, and linen. Roller blinds are the most affordable type of blinds but they are also the least durable.
Roman Blinds:

Venetian Blinds:
Also called vertical blinds, these have a roller at the top that is used to roll the fabric back and forth. These are ideal for conserving space as they are made of one continuous fabric that can be rolled up and out of sight when not in use. Venetian Blinds are ideal for blocking out bright light, but not too much heat.
